We are excited to announce that Senator Dave Cortese (D-San Jose) has been named Majority Whip of the California Senate, a critical role in guiding legislative priorities and ensuring the passage of significant legislation.
In addition to his role as Majority Whip, Senator Cortese has been appointed Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee and the Senate Ethics Committee, and will continue to serve as a member of several other influential committees. This statewide leadership role underscores his commitment to tackling the most significant challenges facing California.
In his own words, Senator Cortese expressed his dedication to the role, “I am honored and humbled to be named Majority Whip… I will work tirelessly to advance the priorities of the Senate Democratic Caucus as we tackle California’s greatest challenges.”
As Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, Senator Cortese will be at the forefront of enhancing California’s world-renowned transportation system, pioneering solutions to fiscal challenges and climate impacts, and preparing for significant events like the LA Olympics.
In his role as Chair for the Senate Ethics Committee, Senator Cortese is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards for Senators, officers, and employees of the Senate, ensuring that the Upper House operates with the utmost integrity.
Senator Cortese’s wider roles will also include membership of the Senate Labor, Public Employment and Retirement Committee, the Senate Insurance Committee, the Senate Agriculture Committee, the Senate Housing Committee, and the Senate Education Committee.
